Now that the Winter Solstice has been and gone on the 21st June, we are heading into summer yet again. This conjures up all sorts of wonderful thoughts…. Aaah, summer - the long anticipated stretch of lazy, lingering days, rife with possibility when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing and the birds are singing. It's a time to practice swimming strokes, plant trees, explore nooks and crannies, and make new friends….
The Solstice is an astronomical event that happens twice, once in summer and once in winter, each year when the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky as seen from the North or South Pole.

Is it normal to gain weight during winter?
Gaining weight in winter should not be ‘’the norm’’, but for some it does certainly seem to be the case. However, it should not occur. Our body functions in exactly the same way during summer and winter, what changes though is the way we feel, what we do, what we eat etc.

Here is a list of what to plant and what to harvest this month check out the latest article from Patchwork.
July is perhaps the month in the year with the least need for human involvement in food gardening but it is now time for the pruning of roses and other shrubs.
Transplanting is another common theme during July as many plants are dormant and can be moved without worrying about disturbing them.
So if you’re looking for a change of scenery or just to update the overall look and feel of your garden, now is an ideal time.
What is Chiropractic Health?
Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine, believing that such a disorder affects general health via the nervous system. Chiropractors in South Africa should be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of SA (AHPCSA) the relevant governmental statutory body as well as obtaining membership of the Chiropractic Association of SA (CASA).

Rose Care - Winter pruning: Why should you prune your roses?
Pruning roses helps to maintain the shape and health of a rose bush. Dead or unhealthy wood is removed, beautifying the bush, as well as eliminated pest infected limbs. Pruning also encourages new, healthy growth and inspires larger, better-lasting blooms.
Find out more on how and why to prune your roses this July with Julip Landscaping.
Jonathan Lee Ching is a certified Banting coach, and forms part of the Real Meal Revolution.

Sym has been brewing a bun in her oven for nearly nine months and her big day is going to happen VERY soon. On behalf of the Norgarb Team and all our readers we would like to thank you Sym for your continued commitment and dedication to the various community platforms we sponsor, and also wish you and Brendan everything of the best with the birth of your little human being.
We hope the porridge brain which ensues won’t leave us perplexed with pictures of nappies and dummies or illegible Gibberish copy to decipher , but if so we promise to forgive you :)
