Warm Winter Fires
June 2016
Dear Subscriber
If you missed out on the latest newsletters you can see them here.
Finally the so-needed rain has arrived albeit just a little. Together with some colder weather, it is safe to say that Winter has officially arrived! The mental shift towards, heavier and heartier meals, warmer clothes, and a regular supply of warm beverages together with mood-setting fires, for those of us lucky enough to have a fireplace, is evident.
If you plan to hibernate this winter Harfield Village and the surrounding areas have many businesses that can make your Winter enjoyable. Order in home cooked meals delivered right to your door by Home Cooked, Dinner is Done or Chic Cuisine. Get your firewood delivered by Firewood for Africa or from Cape Storm Fire & Braai Wood Specialists.
Those wishing to brave the 'great' outdoors do not fear as our little village has many restaurants and pubs that cater for the chilly Winter days and nights. Some even have a fireplace to warm you like Oblivion Wine Bar and Home Restaurant and Bar. There are others which can be found on our website under restaurants in the business listings section.
Fires, although warm and cosy, can be dangerous so please ensure you have safety measures in place. A fire grid for home fires is a great idea as well as a bucket of sand or fire extinguisher nearby. For businesses there are various safety regulations that can be found on the City of Cape Town website.
How to contact the Fire Service:
By dialling 107 from a landline or 021 480 7700 from a cellphone you will reach the Fire Department to report fires.
For Fire and Rescue Service related queries please contact Laetitia Paulsen during Office Hours Mondays to Fridays on 021 590 1702 or e-mail Laetitia.paulsen@capetown.gov.za.

There is often disbelief when senior candidates fail to secure sought after positions, especially when they are appropriately experienced, with a good education.

We also see it with executives who assumed they would be in line for promotion due to their status and tenure, but who are passed over.
