Dear Subscriber
If you missed out on the latest newsletters you can see them all here.
Apart from that one "crazy" downpour last month the rains have unfortunately still not arrived in the way that we need them to, in order to alleviate the current water situation. So as the water restrictions enter phase 4, please keep conserving water by using as much grey water as possible.
Click here to read more info about the phase 4 Water restrictions. Ensure none of your taps or pipes are leaking and remember that filling your swimming pool or washing your car is now strictly forbidden, using potable water. Ignoring the restrictions is considered an incredibly selfish act that only puts a strain on our already diminished water supply.
For a glimpse of how dire this situation is, check out this video clip.
Furthermore, Premier Helen Zille has declared the Western Cape a disaster area and the City of Cape Town has issued a critical warning urging people to cut back as much as possible.
FIBRE IN HARFIELD:
Harfield Village residents have shown strong interest for optical fibre infrastructure installation to their homes. Trenching and cable installation is evident in 2nd Avenue to service the businesses in operation, but there is no commitment to extend this to the rest of the village. Potential service providers are being approached to determine who would be willing to build this infrastructure, to what extent and at what price. The more interest shown by residents, the more leverage we’ll have as a community.
If you'd like fibre installed to your home, please fill in your full name, address, email address and contact number here: https://tinyurl.com/y7btg57k to be added to the list of interested parties.
Addresses are required for topographical plotting to calculate feasibility/cost of the infrastructure build. Updates will be communicated via harfieldftth@gmail.com when viable options have been produced that give the best value for the village.

T-Rex is ready for his new home. He is about 3 months old and will be a chunky medium sized boy with a very silky coat! He gets on well with other dogs and cats. He does rate himself quite highly in the pecking order so he needs a firm owner to keep him in tow. He is a typical puppy who enjoys socialising and hanging out with both animals and humans too. He needs company for part of the day and regular exercise or training would suit him well. Please consider offering this handsome boy a loving home, contact Tamsyn on 0824117922 or tamsyn@animalrescue.org.za.

FEEDBACK FROM SPONSOR A PONCHO:
The good news is that they have reached their target of 680 ponchos! Every child at Rosmead School received a poncho. And in an exciting development, the Dischem Foundation came on board to sponsor 200 ponchos that they will now donate to Batavia school which has 600 learners. But as the Sponsor a Poncho team don't think it possible to acquire an additional 400 ponchos, the school has agreed to give the 200 ponchos to the most needy learners.

Thank You to everyone who has contributed towards the Sponsor a Poncho campaign, together we have made a difference in the lives of hundreds of learners.

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE
Kim Hofmann often finds that clients "slip up" when trying to eat more healthily, not because they have food addictions or cravings, but because they set themselves up for failure without even realising it.
The timing of meals is important as we need to eat according to the manner in which our body handles the energy and nutrients best.

UPDATE FROM THE HVCID
The Harfield Village Community Improvement District (“HVCID”) is a non-profit community association, managed by volunteers, to enhance the overall safety and security of Harfield Village.
The HVCID committee has formed a partnership with Fidelity ADT which has already resulted in 2 dedicated response vehicles patrolling the Village as well as funding towards the HVCID Manager.
In addition to this, Fidelity ADT household subscribers may access the Street Patrol, as well as the Meet and Greet, which means that their customers can call for help for an incident outside their homes – in the street or park (as long as it is within the boundaries of Harfield Village).
