Cape Cell Alert
What is Cape Cell Alert? Cape Cell Alert is a dynamic, instant method of reporting suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood to all your neighbours with one SMS from your mobile phone to one number: 0825686535. The concept is based on STRENGTH IN NUMBERS – the more people registered on the system in a specific neighbourhood, the safer that neighbourhood becomes. How does it Cape Cell Alert work? Simple – any person registered on the system who observes any type of suspicious/unlawful behaviour or witness a criminal activity in their neighbourhood sends a short description to 0825686535. Our experienced personnel, on duty 24/7 will immediately check the message to make sure it is indeed a bona fide, lawful and informative report. We might contact the sender to ensure all relevant details are clear. Once clarified/edited/confirmed, the message is forwarded to all registered users in the same street and neighbourhood, as well as the local security and crime watch contacts. This way, a person acting suspiciously within a neighbourhood, will suddenly feel very unwelcome as many eyes will be watching their every move. Our message forwarding system will not send messages related to another neighbourhood to your neighbourhood, so you will only receive relevant messages. What type of messages will you receive? We manually check every message before we enter it into our system for forwarding to the relevant users in a neighbourhood. This is an integral part of our service to ensure that you do not receive any irrelevant/illegal/immoral messages. We will not forward messages that contain foul language, serve to obstruct the law and contain indecipherable or irrelevant information. We will forward messages that warn your neighbourhood of any reported suspicious or criminal behaviour, that contain public interest announcements (Baboon activity, Fires, date of next NW meeting) and messages that encourage you to refer neighbours, friends and family to join the service. How much does the service cost? Registration is free! We currently cover the cost of the service by selling banner advertisements on our website and by corporate sponsorships, we also welcome donations from corporate and public benefactors. How do I register? Visit our website: www.capecellalert.co.za to fill in the online application – the process will take less than 3 minutes and you will receive an immediate activation text message. Save the reporting number: 0825686535 on your mobile phone as a speed dial number for fast access in case of emergency. Stay alert and let us know when you see something suspicious.
