Maintenance Tips

Alarm Systems:
Make sure your alarm is fully functional. This can be done by testing your alarm at least once a month a service we can offer. This can be done by contacting your armed response and notifying then you are testing by pressing your panic button and all sensors. Common problems are faulty sensors, wiring or flat main alarm controller battery. Wireless alarms sensors batteries should be replaced yearly to be safe but has a maximum life of two years although this is risky.
Make sure your alarm monitoring company does check for low battery and mains power off. There has been pattern from criminals during the holidays to break into electricity street meter boxes and switch off and wait for your alarm LED Status to go off, indicating that you alarm now has no power in order the break in.

We can offer a cell phone App so that you can control your alarm and get notified of an activation and check the status of all the zones.

Electric fence arcing: 

This is caused by high voltage wire line on the plastics bobbins which deteriorate after about 10 years This can cause false alarms and an annoying loud cracking sound of high voltage shorting. Vegetation and branches need to kept clear of the electric fence wires as this can cause shorting and false alarms. Backup battery should be checked that it is still working. Electric fence can be connected to your house alarm to allow armed response extra time to respond before a break into the house. Electric Fence can be Integrated into the same cell phone App as house alarm. 

Gate & Garage Motors:
Gates not running correctly, making a noise or hard to push in manual mode are a sign failed wheel bearing or worn track. If gate starts and stops before fully closing or opening can be a sign of this and cause motor gearbox to prematurely to wear out.
When the electricity is off and the gate fails to run properly on battery backup, this is a sign that the batteries need replacing.

CCTV:

It is important that your CCTV is recording with remote viewing for you to login and check your premises while you are away.

We can offer Verifier off site monitoring in which personnel will contact your armed response company of a verified break-in.

Batteries failing:

• It is imperative that that all your security equipment batteries are still functioning on backup.
• Continued multiple running equipment on battery backup with mains off and not charging does shorten the life of the battery.
• Security equipment backup batteries have an effective life span for up to 5 years for alarms and motor automation up to 3 years.
